Since January 1, 2008, the Polish Classification of Activities (PKD 2007), introduced by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of December 24, 2007, has been in effect. (Journal of Laws 251 item 1885 of December 31, 2007), which replaced the previous 2004 Polish Classification of Activities.

Certificates issued before January 1, 2008. (and PKD 2004 symbols) will be valid until December 31, 2009, nevertheless, as of January 2, 2008, entrepreneurs who report any changes to their entry in the business activity register are required to update the subject of their activity in the aforementioned report in accordance with the new PKD 2007 classification.

The designation of the subject of business activity in the registration application consists of the name of the subclass and a five-character code, consisting of a capital letter of the alphabet and four digits.
For example, a hairdressing establishment is: 96.02.Z – Hairdressing and other beauty treatments.
